Dr. Dave Lee's Dental Conscious Sedation in Atlanta, Ga. Area

It really works!  You take a small pill before your appointment, and you relax in a sleep like state during your dental care in our office.  It makes the treatment very easy, and you will remember very little of the whole experience.  It is easy to finish complex dentistry in one visit, and you will even feel more rested at the end of the day.  Contact us today to find out more about Oral Sedation Dentistry.

Who Is A Candidate For Oral Sedation Dentistry?

  • Anyone who has excessive gagging.
  • Anyone with hard to numb sensitive teeth.
  • Anyone who suffers from dental fear and anxiety.
  • Anyone who would like to have their dentistry done in a safe, totally relaxed sleep like state.
It's important to know that a visit to the dentist can be a positive experience - even when treatment is necessary.  Fear has no boundaries.  It can affect all types of people.  There are no age, sex, economic, or race discrimination guidelines.  Research shows that almost 30% of our population avoids going to the dentist due to fear.  Here at Dr Dave Lee's office in Fayetteville, Georgia we've found that our personal estimate may be closer to 50% where anxiety is the culprit for avoiding needed care.

How Does Sedation Dentistry Work?

If there was a way, with sedation, that you could have your treatment accomplished in minimal visits, with no pain and little memory of the experience, would this be more encouraging for you?  Based on your health history and your personal needs, Dr. Lee will choose the protocol that is best for you and your treatment.  He will give you a prescription for a sedative to take the night before your appointment so you will get a good nights rest, and to make sure you wake up relaxed. You will have a second prescription to take an hour before your actual appointment to create the feeling that patients often describe as sleep. However they are always able to speak, move, and respond verbally to Dr. Lee and his staff.  Usually patients say they have little to-no-memory of the appointment.

Is Sedation Dentistry Safe?

You will be taking your medications orally, so no additional needles are necessary for your sedation. The medications we use are from the benzodiazepine family of medications.  The safety of sedation medications is measured by the therapeutic index, and the medications we use have the safest numbers possible on the therapeutic index, making them the least likely to cause any adverse reaction.  You will need to have a companion drive you to and from your appointments to make your experience as safe as possible.

Why Make an Appointment at Dr. Lee's Office?

It's our goal to listen closely to your needs, and for us to understand the intense, real, palm-sweating, sick-to-the-stomach, and sleep depriving fear that has kept you away from any treatment.  We understand that many people are afraid to even tell anyone else about their fear, and they often feel very isolated with their feelings.  We know your fear is real and you'll find that Dr. Dave Lee and all of our staff will treat you with a great compassion for your emotional as well as your dental needs.  Dental Sedation can help you regain your health, and have the fabulous smile you've always wanted.
Sometimes patients find it reassuring to take a "test trip" to our office before their first appointment.  If you decide this is a good idea for you, please feel free to give us a call and come by.  We would love to sit and have a cup of coffee or tea, and answer your questions in a friendly comfortable setting.
